Trish Terrell
Specialist Support Coordinator/Social Worker
Hi, I’m Trish.
I bring over 30 years of experience supporting vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds—many with multiple and complex needs—within the justice system. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work and Social Planning and previously worked with the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) in roles including Custodial Officer, Community Corrections Officer, Senior Case Manager, and Court Report Writer. Across my 17 years at the Adelaide Remand Centre (ARC), I also acted in several senior custodial positions.
Having witnessed firsthand how many individuals fall through the cracks, I am deeply committed to walking alongside people, advocating for their rights, supporting rehabilitation, and promoting positive life outcomes while upholding dignity and self-autonomy.
I’m known for being straightforward and authentic, valuing genuine connection, clear communication, honesty, transparency, and integrity. I bring a non-judgmental and empathetic approach to my work, paired with natural curiosity and a strong commitment to understanding each person’s needs. I work collaboratively with clients to connect them with the right supports and advocate for their wellbeing. My practice is person-centred, strengths-based, and grounded in core social work principles.
I have extensive lived and professional experience working with both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, individuals experiencing chronic mental health challenges or involved with Forensic Community Mental Health Services, those affected by drug and alcohol misuse, and people engaged with the South Australian Criminal Courts.
